Cristian Chiritescu, MD, FAAP
Owner of Ellenton Pediatrics, Dr. Chiritescu completed his Pediatric Residency Training at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, a primary affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He is Board Certified by The American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Beginning in 2001, Dr. Chiritescu spent seven years as a primary care pediatrician at Yakima Pediatrics Associates in Washington State. He was also appointed Clinical Instructor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Dr. Chiritescu opened Ellenton Pediatrics in 2008 and has privileges at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Romanian. Dr. Chiritescu is dedicated to providing outstanding care to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years of age.
Happily married for more than 20 years, he and his wife have two sons. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and relaxing at the beach with a good historic novel.
Alina Chiritescu, MD, FAAP
Dr. Alina Chiritescu completed her pediatric residency training and then served as Chief Resident at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, a primary affiliate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in Bronx, New York. She is Board Certified by The American Board of Pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
From 2001 to 2008, Dr. Chiritescu practiced in Washington State at Yakima Neighborhood Health Services. In 2006 she was appointed as Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine and recognized as Active Teacher by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Chiritescu relocated to Florida in the summer of 2008; she worked with another pediatric practice until recently.
We welcome Dr. Alina Chiritescu, already known to many patients in our community as “Dr. Alina”. She has privileges at Manatee Memorial Hospital and Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. She is committed to outstanding, compassionate and wholehearted medical care for children and adolescents from birth to 18 years.
Dr. Alina is fluent in English, Spanish and Romanian. She has been happily married to Dr. Cristian Chiritescu for 20 years and has two sons. She values her time with her family, traveling and cheering at her kids’ competitions.
Jessica McKelvie Zeller, ARNP, CPNP
As a registered pediatric nurse practitioner, Jessica is a health care provider for well and ill children from birth to early adulthood. She graduated from the University of Florida's College of Nursing with a master's degree and she holds national certification.
She can provide comprehensive health services by teaching and advising children and their families about growth and development, health status, illnesses, management plans and health promotion as well as disease and injury prevention. She will also discuss with patients and family members the purpose, timing, side effects and possible interaction of medications and/or treatments, cost, and alternative treatments or procedures.
Candace Bassett, RN, MSN, PPCNB-BC – Nurse Practitioner
Candace has been a pediatric nurse for more than 20 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Auburn University and her master's degree from University of South Florida. Candace worked as both a staff nurse and charge nurse in the ICU at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg until she began practicing as a pediatric nurse practitioner in 1998. She is nationally certified by exam in pediatrics. She provides comprehensive acute, chronic and preventive care; diagnoses and treats common children illnesses and injuries; and educates and counsels patients and their families regarding healthy lifestyles, nutrition and safety. Candace resides in Parrish with her husband and two sons. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling and being involved in her church and her boys' school.
Sarah, Office Coordinator / Billing Specialist
After completing a Medical Billing and Coding Program at State College of Florida, Sarah is a certified billing and coding specialist certified by the National Health Career Association. She assists our patients and their families with financial matters including statements and insurance questions. Sarah is also the mother of a happy, healthy child.
Hope, Registered Medical Assistant
Hope is responsible for administrative and clinical tasks such as physical forms, immunization records, vaccinations and preliminary patient exams. She enjoys working with our patients and has two daughters of her own.
Tania, Medical Assistant
After graduating from Medvance Institute, Tania was employed at a family medical practice office before joining the team at Ellenton Pediatrics. She is one of the medical assistants who will assist our patients right after check-in. Tania speaks fluent Spanish and is the proud parent of a beautiful little boy.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Bianca warmly greets our patients every day. She is the go-to person for scheduling appointments as well as filling out registration, insurance and authorization forms. Bianca has worked in the medical field for over five years.
Jessie, Medical Assistant
Jessie is a graduate of the Medical Assistant Program at Manatee Technical Institute. She assists patients to their rooms, run tests and administers immunizations. She loves working with children. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys her horses and dogs.

If you feel your child has a severe or emergency situation, call 911 to summon paramedics or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency department. Then call Ellenton Pediatrics at 941-723-7877 to inform us.
An emergency call should be placed if your child is bleeding uncontrollably, unconscious, having a seizure, possible poisoning or cannot breathe; in addition, if your child has a chronic medical condition in crisis, or if your infant under 12 weeks of age has a fever (over 100.5 degrees rectally), or extreme irritability, recurrent vomiting, or a major change of state, seek immediate medical attention.

Our primary concern is safety and assuring proper medicines for your child. This involves reviewing your child’s chart and checking with the physician before a prescription can be refilled. Please give us at least two or three days’ advance notice of your refill needs. Refills for ADHD medications or other chronic medicines may require a repeat visit with the pediatrician.
